Long-awaited, the new Toyota RAV4 finally debuts. The Japanese SUV that, with its sixth generation, receives a complete makeover in all aspects, remaining faithful to hybrid powertrains. As with the current generation, the 2026 RAV4 will be powered exclusively by full or plug-in hybrid powertrains, bringing more power and efficiency.
Arriving at dealerships in 2026 in Europe and the USA, but with no forecast for Brazil yet, the new Toyota RAV4 aims to consolidate its leadership in the SUV segment globally, with more than 15 million units sold worldwide since 1994, including 2.5 million in Europe alone.

Teasers over the last few days have given us valuable clues about the style of the new Toyota RAV4 and now we have confirmation. The Japanese SUV has been completely redesigned, on the one hand to be visually closer – especially at the front – to models like the Prius and the Corolla from the USA and, on the other, to give it a more robust and sporty feel.
At the front, the C-shaped light groups and redesigned grille stand out, increasing the car’s presence on the road without making the overall style too heavy. On the side, the wheel arches are even squarer than on the current generation, while at the rear the lines are more vertical to maximize internal space and improve the perception of overall dimensions.
As expected, the Toyota RAV4 2026 will be available in two main variants: classic and GR Sport, the latter being characterized by a sportier style, with 20″ alloy wheels with a specific design, a track widened by 20 mm, redesigned front grille and rear spoiler. In the USA, the model will have conventional versions, such as LE and XSE for example, but you can choose more off-road visual finishes.
As for dimensions, Toyota has not released any information, but the feeling is that the 2026 RAV4 will gain a few centimeters in length.
Toyota RAV4 2026: interior
In a team that is winning, it doesn’t change, but it is updated in the right way. Thus, inside, the new Toyota RAV4 does not change the current layout, but revises the general style to make it more modern without forgetting practicality.
The protagonist of the instrument panel is the multimedia center with a 12.9″ screen, which houses completely new and easier-to-use software thanks to its simple and complete design. The screens can be changed at will, choosing which information will be displayed and in which area of the monitor. A new advanced voice assistant makes its debut, to manage navigation, media, interior temperature and vehicle control. There are, of course, remote updates via the internet and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Below are the physical buttons to manage the climate control, perhaps a little too small, while at the bottom two rectangular elements – where the air conditioning rotors are currently located – integrate the selectors for the various driving modes. Among them, there are two induction plates for wireless smartphone charging.
The 12.3″ digital instrumentation has also been revised and, like the multimedia system, there are multiple screens, including one that displays Google Maps. The steering wheel has a perfectly circular design and, again aiming for ergonomics and ease of use, has physical buttons embedded in the side spokes to manage the multimedia and driver assistance systems.
In terms of space and quality, Toyota has raised the bar: the rear is even more comfortable, with all the necessary centimeters for the legs and head, and the materials and assembly are not worthy of criticism.
Toyota RAV4 2026: engines and technology
The Toyota RAV4 remains a hybrid, without switching to pure electric. A welcome confirmation for a crucial model in the Japanese manufacturer’s range, evolving the current generation hybrid powertrain.

The new fully hybrid RAV4 will be available in versions cwith front or all-wheel drive: the first with 183 hp, the second with 191 hp. No other technical details were disclosed, but we know that, under the hood, there is once again the 2.5 four-cylinder gasoline engine, flanked by one or two electric motors, depending on the type of traction chosen. Overall, efficiency has been improved through optimization of the battery, transmission and power control unit.
In the era of super hybrid cars, the 2026 Toyota RAV4 doesn’t want to be left behind, so the plug-in version promises a 100% electric range of 100 km, thanks to a 22.68 kWh lithium-ion battery. The recharging power was also increased, reaching 50 kW in direct current, to go from 10 to 80% of capacity in 30 minutes. In alternating current, on the other hand, 11 kW is achieved with a “full” electrical charge in about 3 hours.
For the first time, the plug-in powertrain can be combined with front-wheel drive, with 268 hp, while all-wheel drive delivers 304 hp for 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.

There are systems like Front Cross Traffic Alert, which detects vehicles crossing in front, blind spot monitor improved, new lane change assistant, forward collision warning with braking mitigation improved and system for Park the new RAV4 using your smartphone.
Toyota RAV4 2026: prices
Toyota has not yet released prices for the new 2026 RAV4, neither in Europe nor in the USA. The expectation is that the values will increase due to the improvements made. Today, Toyota charges between R$349,290 and R$402,420 for the 2025 RAV4 in Brazil.
