Will the Snatcher return for another horror installment?

After the surprise success of “The Black Phone”, the horror is now returning „The Black Phone 2“ back. But will the grabber strike a third time?

The first part of “The Black Phone” from 2021 quickly became a surprise hit: The by Scott Derrickson staged horror film played worldwide $161 million and received consistently positive reviews. So it’s no wonder that a sequel had to follow. With “The Black Phone 2” Ethan Hawke returns as the infamous serial killer The Grabber. The new chapter of the franchise starts on 23 October 2025 in cinemas and is intended to continue the dark story about Finney (Mason Thames) and Gwen (Madeleine McGraw).

What about “The Black Phone 3”?

No third sequel has been officially confirmed yet. Director Scott Derrickson and screenwriter C. Robert Cargill expressed caution to Collider: “Would anyone even want that? I don’t know,” Cargill said. However, another part is not completely off the table – Derrickson hinted that everything will depend on the success of the second film. After the massive hype surrounding part one and the high expectations for the sequel, another chapter seems to be within the realm of possibility.

This is what fans of “The Black Phone 2” can expect

The Black Phone 2 stars Mason Thames as Finney, Madeleine McGraw as his sister Gwen and Jeremy Davies as their father. Director Derrickson promises a more intense, brutal experience: The second part should be more emotional, violent and darker. Even Stephen King, father of author Joe Hill, praised the sequel already described as “better than the original”. If “The Black Phone 2” becomes another box office success, there’s a good chance the grabber will make the phone ring again.
