Toy Story 5 It already has a trailer, and in the preview you can see who would be the new villain of the Disney-Pixar franchise led by Woody and Buzz: Lilypad.

Lilypad is a “high-tech” frog-shaped smart tablet “that greatly complicates the tasks of Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang when they face a new threat,” says a press release.

In the first images you can see the main characters of the film terrified by the arrival of the most technological toy in the saga.

The character's English voice is that of Greta Leethe actress who made the leap with her appearance in the Oscar-nominated Past Lives.

The director is Andrew Stantonsame as Finding Nemo, Wall-E and Finding Dory and co-writer of the four previous films in the franchise.

Regardless of what Lilypad turns out to be, which may not be as "bad" as it seems, the Toy Story saga was characterized by having great villains. Although these are never simply evil: they represent stages of existential fear of toys (and humans), such as abuse, forgetting, replacement, loss of love, and the passage of time. In the sequel, the villain appears to be Al McWhiggin, the greedy owner of “Al's Toy Barn,” who kidnaps Woody to sell him to a museum in Japan. But the real antagonist is revealed later: Stinky Pete, the miner, who appears to be a fatherly friend, but is a resentful never-sold doll, who hates children and wants to force the group to live locked in a glass case.

Toy Story 3 (2010) – Dirty

The pink bear is one of the most complex villains. Lotso leads the nursery Sunnyside with a false facade of cuteness, but in reality he is a manipulative dictator who controls the toys like a tyrant. His history of abandonment makes him bitter and vengeful.

Toy Story 4 (2019) – Gabby Gabby

In the fourth installment, the “villain” is more nuanced. Gabby Gabby, a vintage doll with a faulty voice, lives in an antique store and longs for a new owner. Although he manipulates and kidnaps Forky, he does so not out of malice but out of loneliness and desire for love. She is eventually redeemed when Woody helps her find a girl who adopts her.
