'La Deuda', a new film directed and starring Daniel Guzmán, with the participation of RTVE in its production, has just arrived in cinemas. And among the first reactions it is eliciting, there is great unanimity.
In addition to Guzmán, in this drama with social criticism and touches of thriller that tells us about the care of the elderly, loss, guilt, crisis, gentrification and eviction we find actors of the stature of Luis Tosar, Itziar Ituño, Susana Abaitua, Francesc Garrido and Mona Martínez, among others.
The story follows Lucas (Daniel Guzmán), a 47-year-old man, and Antonia (Rosario García), an elderly woman on the verge of eviction in her fight to keep her home and achieve forgiveness. They both live in a central apartment in the city and, despite their financial difficulties, they live with affection, enthusiasm and a sense of humor.
His life goes on daily until an investment fund acquires the building to convert it into tourist apartments. Lucas tries to get the money necessary to avoid losing the house even if it is not legal, but one wrong decision will change the rest of their lives.
After its release, viewers who went to the cinema to see it have expressed their impressions. And the verdict is unanimous. "Tragic, sensitive and very well made, with credible characters and well-crafted dialogues. And, again, the special sensitivity of Daniel Guzmán when it comes to portraying real stories. AND what a good actor he is... BRAVO", says Moisés Rodríguez, journalist and presenter of TVE's Channel 24 Hours.
"The treatment of old age, loneliness, bad luck and dignity in defeat make 'The Debt' a beautiful film"says the great Carlos del Amor."What a necessary and well-planned story. The plot and interpretations touched my soul."says another viewer.
"Exciting", "a movie that has embroidered reality", "with a shrunken soul", "safety pin" o "Thank you very much for giving visibility to the great housing problem"are another of the many comments that 'La Deuda' by Daniel Guzmán is generating.

What an outrage The Debt. With such simplicity and truth such raw topics are treated. The character of Itziar Ituño is light in the midst of pain, immense with that deep, delicate and powerful look, suffering and surviving. Go run and see it! @danielguzman @wandafilms pic.twitter.com/SACoqD7bDT

There are very hard lives and very unfair situations. @danielguzman He knows it and makes very good movies about it. THE DEBT, I saw it yesterday, is one of them. It has a lot of meritCongratulations Dani!

In #LaDeuda You are going to see a deeply human film that brings out its characters; a magnetic, hilarious Charo and a sublime Itziar Ituño in her role as a hurt mother trying to survive. We must highlight the complicity in the looks and the imperceptible smiles ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/ipMZEjcw5M
