The film, which has already toured international festivals such as the Shanghai International Film Festival and the Santiago International Film Festival (SANFIC), is preparing to captivate the Argentine public with a captivating plot, a talented cast and a high-level production.

The preview took place at the Cine Universidad facilities, in the University Hall, where the director met with part of the cast, family, friends and representatives of the audiovisual sector, who saw a real attraction in this project.

In this context, Santiago Esteves, Director and Screenwriter of the film, highlighted: "This film was not only filmed entirely in Mendoza, but was conceived from Mendoza. That today we are sharing this moment is the realization of a very long dream. With Marco (Caponi) we have known each other since we were very young, we were born in Mendoza in the same year and in some way we are connected for many reasons. This is reflected in fiction, in understanding when it came to working and what we wanted to talk about.

In turn, Marco Antonio Caponi from Mendoza added: "It is very nice to be presenting this film here in Mendoza. When I read it I saw my city reflected, everything I saw since I was a child, and it seemed wonderful to come to film here together."

For her part, Sofía Polichino, from the production company Río Films, remarked: "This type of incentive to attract projects of these characteristics is extremely important for the development and growth of audiovisual activity in the province. Ninety-nine percent of the filming was carried out in Mendoza, while the remaining one percent was filmed in Chile. This speaks of how relevant it is to have policies to promote private investment and with an installed capacity such as the one that Mendoza has today, which is truly remarkable".

About the plot

In Los Renacidos, two feuding brothers become involved in a clandestine operation to help people fake their own deaths and cross the border. What begins as a dark business will soon endanger their lives and force a confrontation with their own destiny, pushing family tension to the limit.

The film stars Pedro Fontaine, Marco Antonio Caponi and Oscar De la Fuente, who give life to the protagonists immersed in a world of betrayal, crime and family secrets.

The Cash Rebate program and national production

One of the most notable features of this project is that Los Renacidos was partially financed through the Cash Rebate program, a tax refund initiative promoted by the Mendoza Audiovisual Law, which encourages audiovisual production in the region.

This program allowed the team to have a high-quality production and to film on locations in Mendoza, a province that continues to establish itself as a key destination for international cinema.

The filming of the film was carried out with an Alexa ARRI 35 camera - which emulates human vision with unique precision -, which constituted a milestone in local production due to its innovative technical and aesthetic approach.

A successful international journey

Before its local premiere, the film already generated great expectations in the international circuit. In addition to its participation in the Shanghai International Film Festival and the Santiago International Film Festival (SANFIC), Los Renacidos will be part of the Official Competition of the Huelva Festival in November, reaffirming the international projection of Mendoza cinema.

About the director

Santiago Esteves, born in Mendoza in 1983, is a talented director, screenwriter and editor. His career includes the renowned short film Los Crimes (2011), awarded at the Huesca Festival and shortlisted for the Oscar Awards.

His first feature film, The Education of the King (2017), was internationally acclaimed and presented at prestigious festivals such as San Sebastián. With Los Renacidos, Esteves reaffirms his place within Argentine auteur cinema.
