A new image from the set of Spider-Man: A New Day may have confirmed the role of Liza Colon-Zayas (The Bear) in the feature film.
In the image, we see the actress next to Tom Hollandcharacterized as Spider-Man.
Although her characterization in general does not directly refer to the character in the comics, the overcoat worn by the actress is a trademark of Jean DeWolffa role that had previously been associated with Colón-Zayas through rumors.
In comic books, Jean DeWolff was a police captain and personal friend of the Spider-Manwhose death was the highlight of the Sin-Eater Saga.
In this comic book storyline, after DeWolff's death, the Spider-Man becomes so furious that he starts hunting for the Sin Eaterwith the intention of killing him.
Cabeça de Teia only does not break its code of conduct because of the intervention of Daredevil.
According to previous rumors, part of this plot should be adapted into Spider-Man: A New Daybut with Jean DeWolff being closer to the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) than Spider-Man.
In any case, for now, there is still nothing officially confirmed by the Marvel Studios.
Spider-Man: A New Day will hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
