Toy Story 5 has shown in new images the appearance of Woody y Buzz Lightyear in the fifth film of the flagship saga Pixar, with premiere scheduled for June 19, 2026.
The revelation has been through a poster on the official website of the animation studio, where the dolls appear on both sides of the logo of the sequel directed by Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, Wall·E) ready for the new adventure that is coming their way.
From the little we know about the argument of Toy Story 5, whose script Stanton also signs, is that on this occasion classic toys will have to compete against new gadgets and distractions from the attention of its current owner, Bonnie. In fact, The antagonist of the film is an electronic tablet, call Lily Pad.
Without seeing how Woody and Buzz Lightyear manage, but what this first image makes clear is that Pixar remains faithful to its original designs, offering us a look at the cowboy and the space adventurer (voiced by Tom Hanks y Tim Allen in original version) as we have known them for 31 years.
The only apparent novelty of the revealed look of the characters is that Buzz wears the sheriff's star that Woody gave to Jessie at the end of Toy Story 4, making her the recipient of his legacy as a law enforcement officer. Otherwise, only one is observed greater softness in silhouettes and textures, fruit of technological advances in digital animation.
The similarity of the characters with respect to their original appearance has been received with joy on social networks (unlike what happened with another highly anticipated fifth installment of the animated saga, Shrek 5, which generated a significant controversy) and also a large collection of memes highlighting, precisely, the little difference.
Thus, most of the comments surrounding this news react in a funny way to the lack of changes, feigning confusion at a "new look" of very beloved characters who, for once, it doesn't modify them palpably.
