Free cultural activities, including film screenings, workshops and debates take place at the headquarters of the National Archives, in Rio de Janeiro, starting this Friday (20), with the Arquivo em Cartaz ─ International Archive Film Festival.
The event will last until next Friday (24) and is part of the celebrations for the ten years of the creation of the Arquivo em Cartaz, which began last January. The festival took exhibitions and debates to various regions of the country and resulted in the inauguration of three regional offices of the National Archives, in Porto Alegre, Manaus and Salvador.
“Since the 1990s, we only had headquarters in Rio de Janeiro and a regional office in Brasília”, he informed Brazil Agency the general coordinator of Access and Dissemination of Collections at the National Archives, Letícia Grativol.
This year's festival theme this year is Memories of the Earth in Archive Films: environmental transformations, impacts and survivals. The choice was based on the holding, in Brazil, of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), next November, in Belém (PA).
“We are, throughout the year, mobilizing our main events around the theme of climate change and the environment, due to COP30 itself. That’s why we chose this theme”, says the coordinator.
