Spider-Man: Brand New Day is honoring the tradition of Tom Holland's previous Marvel Cinematic Universe trilogy, as an Avenger will be taking part in the fourth installment. After having been missing from the MCU timeline since the end of 2021, the web-crawler is less than a year away from finally being back on the big screen.
With filming still underway, @UnBoxPHD revealed the first look at Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner from the Spider-Man: Brand New Day set. While in between filming, the MCU veteran was spotted covered up in a green coatstanding alongside several crew members.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed on August 1, 2025, that the long-time Marvel Studios star was in talks to join the project. While speaking to ET Online on September 4, 2025, Ruffalo commented on his Spider-Man appearance by keeping it very cryptic about his involvement:
Mark Ruffalo: I don't know, I’m still waiting to hear. I haven't read a script yet. Well, if it does happen, it would be (Laughs) incredible. I grew up with this, and it's changed my life in the best ways. Each time, it's a new director, a new world, and it's so exciting. There's nothing else like it. A TV show doesn't change its world from one director to the next, and that's what is exciting.
Plot details about how the Hulk factors into the Spider-Man: Brand New Day story are still being kept under wraps, as Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have not shared specifics yet. This will be Ruffalo's first MCU film appearance since 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, when he appeared in the post-credits scenes.
The last live-action appearance Bruce had was in 2022's She-Hulk: Attorney at Lawappearing alongside his cousin, Jennifer Walters, a.k.a. the titular heroine, played by Tatiana Maslany. The finale ended with the original Avenger returning to Earth to reveal his son, Skaar. Ruffalo has also voiced his character through the animated What If...? series.
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast also features several returning MCU players, with Jon Bernthal's Punisher finally making his first movie appearance. Michael Mando, who debuted as Mac Gargan, better known as Marvel's Scorpion, in Spider-Man: Homecomingis set to reprise the villainous role.
One of the biggest mysteries surrounding the film from new set photos is Sadie Sink's MCU character, as the Stranger Things star was spotted for the first time on October 19, 2025. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman have also been tapped in mystery roles.
Holland's solo film will be the second entry for Phase 6 in The Multiverse Saga, before the arrival of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. At this time, it's unknown if Holland and Ruffalo are appearing in either of the team-up installments.
Outside of upcoming MCU movies, Marvel Television also has Wonder Man, Daredevil: Born Again season 2, VisionQuestand the Punisher's Special Presentation coming up on Disney+ next year. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to swing its way into theaters on July 31, 2026.
