The new Kiss of the Spider Woman, starring Jennifer Lopez just got a trailer and a release date: January 2026. See the preview above.
She added: “When times are hard, we turn to art, beauty, music and cinema to save us.”
The film, inspired by the theatrical musical by Terrence McNallyis also a new film adaptation of the original book by Manuel Puig. Em 1985, Hector Babenco took the story to the big screen, with Sonia Braga in the role that now belongs to J.Lo.
The plot follows two cellmates in a clandestine prison run by the Argentine dictatorship: Valentín (Diego Luna) was arrested for his activism against the regime, while Luis (Tonatiuh) is incarcerated for being gay. In love with Ingrid Luna's (Lopez) films, the second tells the first the story of one of the films, to distract him from the horrors around him.
The new Kiss of the Spider Woman is directed and written by Bill Condon (Dreamgirls), and was first shown on Sundance 2025. O Omelet attended the event, watching the film first hand - check out our review here.
The film arrives on October 10th in US cinemas, and in January 8, 2026 to Brazil, distributed by Paris Filmes.
