While the “Flintstone Family” has already produced live-action films, this has so far been missing from its sci-fi companion “The Jetsons”. Jim Carrey is being considered for a leading role.
The future as imagined in the 1960s is shown in the animated classic “The Jetsons.” Almost parallel to “The Flintstones” aka “The Flintstones”, the then futuristic future full of helper robots, flying cars and other innovations was presented as an entertainment program for children and older viewers.
While the Feuerstein family received several film adaptations starting in the 90s, including one with John Goodman (“The Conners”) as Fred Feuerstein, the Jetsons have remained a cartoon. That could change, how The Wrap reports. The makers are already eyeing a leading actor for this.
Jim Carrey (“Kidding,” “Sonic the Hedgehog”) is said to be in negotiations for the lead role. So he would be family man George Jetson, who was once voiced by George O'Hanlon. With Colin Trevorrow (“Jurassic World”), a director and co-screenwriter has already been confirmed. It is currently unclear who will take on the roles of his son Elroy, daughter Judy or wife Jane. You might also need actors or voices for the dog Astro or the house helper Rosie. Depending on how the roles are set up.

The Jetsons first aired on ABC in 1962 and lived in the futuristic city of Orbit City. There were only three seasons in total and it became a hit in reruns in the US and parts of the world as a Saturday morning cartoon. The family was seen in the US in the animated “Jetsons: The Movie” from the 90s. If you don't know the format at all, you can almost imagine it like the relationship between "The Simpsons" and "Futurama". One is a family sitcom, the other is more of a sci-fi story from the future. These are the streaming innovations in October at Disney+
