The personal life of Martin Scorsese It has been very complicated for decades. The director faced in the past self-destructive episodesof disputes with their wives already a strong cocaine addiction for which he almost died when in 1978 he suffered a brain hemorrhage when mixing this substance with medicine for his chronic asthma.
They were a tough few years for the filmmaker who, at the time, was married to his third wife, Isabella Rosellini. Before her, he had been married to Larine Marie Brennan, with whom he had Cathywho recently admitted that his father had a "destructive behavior".

In the third episode of the docuseries, the actress assured that during her three year marriage (1979 to 1982), Scorsese "could get very angry."

Marty was stunned because He couldn't imagine the level of violence that that tiny, asthmatic body could create.. It was like a volcano. It was terrifying," clarifies Rossellini.
"I don't even remember why he got so angry. I think sometimes it was something stupid that made him crazy," he adds. "Sometimes he would wake up saying, 'Fuck it! Fuck it! Fuck it!', and I was like, 'Marty, the day hasn't even started.'. Then I understood that, in part, this rage was also part of the fuel that gave him courage; because, well, I was a kid from Little Italy and now I was a big director who had to direct a huge, big-budget movie. And I think the anger gave him the energy to endure the day, to finish the film, because it's not easy. So it was hard to be with him", he assures.
Their marriage included the filming of Raging Bull (1980) and The King of Comedy (1982), during which Scorsese went through a severe depressionespecially with the latter, which prevented him from working.
"If it weren't for the doctor, five days a week, calls on weekends, hard and constant work to clarify my ideas, I would be dead," explains the director in the documentary. "I was on very strong medication and I was getting over it. It was very lonely, but it was my fault."
Finally, Scorsese and Rossellini They divorced in 1982.
