Another short film, "Alice", by Gabriel Novis, is also presented as a possible Oscar contender, in this case in the best documentary short category. Winner of the award for best international documentary short at Hot Docs, in Toronto, the film played at festivals such as Guadalajara, Melbourne, Doc NYC and Sheffield. The doc follows Alice, a trans woman from Maceió who seeks ways to exist as an artist, surfer and skateboarder in a society still marked by violence and prejudice. The film was shown at the Rio Festival.
