Since its release in theaters, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinite Castle” has continued to break records - and now, the ambition is even greater. The film produced by Ufotable became the highest-grossing anime in history, and the excellent acceptance among audiences and critics helped Rahul Purini, CEO of the film's co-distributor, Crunchyroll, to aim even higher: he wants to see the film compete for a 2026 Oscar statuette.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Purini praised the team's work and stated that the work deserves to be among the big names in Hollywood: “The animation, the story, the quality in all aspects... the fans deserve the film to be considered”, declared the executive.
Japanese titles such as “Spirited Away” (2001) and “The Boy and the Crane” (2023), winners of the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2003 and 2024, respectively, help increase expectations for the “Infinite Castle” campaign. The absolute success of the anime in theaters, which has already grossed more than US$550 million on global screens, proves that the production has already burst the bubble. The popularity increases the film's chances of securing a place at the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, an institution that over the years has promoted awards that seek to highlight major box office successes.
Rahul Purini's statement begins, albeit timidly, the campaign for “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinite Castle” for the 2026 Oscars: “We will do our part to ensure that it receives the necessary support to be considered in all categories for which it is eligible", concluded the CEO during the interview.
