On Thursday, October 16th, The Black Phone 2, a horror film directed by Scott Derrickson, will premiere in Brazilian darkrooms. The feature film continues the macabre franchise launched in 2021, starring Ethan Hawke and Mason Thames.

The plot continues the story of Finney Shaw, who four years after escaping from the Kidnapper, tries to lead a normal life. However, her sister, Gwen, begins having visions involving the black phone and three boys - sparking an investigation that could reveal dark secrets.

THE SECRET BEHIND THE KIDNAPPER’S NEW MASK

In the trailer for The Black Telephone 2, released by Universal Pictures a month ago, the public got a glimpse of the Kidnapper's new mask - the villain played by Hawke. Thus, during a recent interview with Collider, Derrickson told how the team responsible achieved the final aesthetic of the prop, explaining with the following words:

"The only way I know to do something like this is to try to imagine something as a starting point or find visual references, but go to a great makeup artist - like we had on this film - and kind of describe it, and then let them work with concept artists and make the art. The process of looking at art is always one of molding and refining, like, 'I like this. I don't like this. I like this look. I don't like this look. Try again based on this feedback.' until you get to something, like, 'Aha! That's it. Great'. Then the makeup effects department has to step in and make this work in a safe and time-efficient way.”
