Disney's new attempt to revitalize the franchise Tronstarted in the 1980s, proved to be a failure. Tron: Ares it reached just US$33.5 million in its first weekend in American cinemas, where it is showing in more than 4000 locations.
The film's budget is estimated at US$180 million, not counting the studio's advertising expenses. Globally, the film also did not perform well, with just US$27 million, which totals US$60 million at the box office until this Sunday (12).
The new film Tron tells the story of Aresa computer program that inhabits the virtual world of visual neon known as The Grid. The warrior will have to leave cyberspace to carry out a dangerous mission in the real world, on a journey that will make him question his own programming.
The protagonist is played by Jared Letoactor Fight Club (1999), Blade Runner 2049 (2017) and Oscarยฎ winner for Dallas Shopping Club (2013). Production also has a return on Jeff Bridgesstar who played Kevin Flynn and the Clu program in the previous films.
In addition to the duo, the new Tron brings Evan Peters (Dahmer: An American Cannibal), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), Greta Lee (Past Lives), Jodie Turner-Smith (The Acolyte), Hasan minhaj (This Is How It Ends), Arturo Castro (Hire Killer), Sarah Desjardins (Yellowjackets) e Cameron Monaghan (Gotham).
Tron:ย Ares directed by Joachim Rรธnning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge; Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) and script Jesse Wigutow (Daredevil: Reborn), who created the story in partnership with David DiGilio (To Terminal List).
The film is already showing in cinemas in Brazil.
