Nick is overwhelmed: he must take care of his daughter and housework, while helping his wife, Maggie, who suffers from a terminal illness. Desperate, he hires an Artificial Intelligence robot to help him with his routine. However, the machine, called Alice, looks identical to a woman. And, little by little, the robot begins to dominate the home, wanting to take Nick's wife's place.
