Visually stunning sci-fi film loses 132 million – fans have been waiting for it for 15 years and now this

For a while, no sci-fi fan could ignore the advertising for Tron: Ares: posters everywhere, videos of real Tron motorcycles, loud Deadline even a concert for which entire streets were closed. The effort apparently didn’t pay off: the third part of the cult series is apparently over at the moment $130 million loss made.

Tron 3 is a huge flop: That’s behind the sci-fi disappointment

As Deadline reports, Tron 3 is currently on the hook for $132.7 million. According to the industry website, the sum comes from offsetting the current box office earnings of $160 million Budget of supposedly 220 million and various other items such as advertising and home theater revenue.

According to the article, the loss only applies to the current state of cinema income: If Tron 3 grosses significantly more than 160 million, the loss will also be reduced. However, a major change is not to be expected – expensive franchise blockbusters like Tron usually gross the largest daily amounts within the first week.

What is the reason for the flop? “There was simply no particular vision,” Deadline quotes a source. “Disney spending a quarter of a billion dollars on a Jared Leto film, whose franchise has never worked in four decades, is madness.”

The person, who is apparently the spokesperson for an actor, also seems to be addressing the recently sobering box office results of Leto’s films: Morbius, for example, is considered one of the biggest superhero disasters of recent years.

Tron: Ares followed Tron: Legacy after 15 years, which continued the first Tron film from 1982. The third part also largely failed critics Rotten Tomatoes shows. We think it’s entertaining sci-fi action that could have been much better.
