On the red carpet of Five secondsat the Rome Film Festival, Paolo Virzì and his cast present themselves with the naturalness of those who have just finished a group work and are sincerely proud of it. The film, released on October 30th with Vision Distribution, is a story of the (unusual) Tuscan countryside and forced coexistence: a father who isolates himself, a group of boys who invade his solitude, a relationship that goes from a clash to an alliance.
The protagonist is Adriano Serenia successful former lawyer who lives alone in the renovated stables of a ruined villa. To interpret it is Valerio Mastandreawho has been working with Virzì for more than twenty years now: «It’s the fifth film I’ve made with Paolo, and we work well together», he says. He arrives to break Adriano’s fragile balance Matildaplayed by Galatea Bellugi. Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, dressed in white, she is the study partner who would like to take care of Mastandrea. The pains of life, the setbacks can always be opportunities, but I repeat we are good at talking in films then in real life it is much more complicated. Personally, every time I have taken trams I have always tried to take them as opportunities, not always succeeding.”
