This feat can be considered quite relevant for Toyota, since the Ford F-150 accounts for more than half of the sales of the F-Series pickup truck family, also made up of the F-150 Lightning (electric), F-250, F-350 and F-450 models.

The Ford F-Series has led the United States pickup truck market uninterruptedly since 1977, with 33 million units sold in that country. Of the 903,454 units sold worldwide in 2024, more than 765 thousand copies were sold in the North American market.

Still, the Ford F-Series has maintained its position as the best-selling vehicle in the Americas for the last 43 years and the global leadership among pickup trucks with more than 41 million units sold since 1948, the year its first generation was launched.

In 2020, the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) released a study revealing that the Ford F-Series is among the most valuable consumer goods in the United States. In the previous year, the family of pickup trucks contributed almost US$50 billion to the North American GDP, alone generating more revenue than large companies such as Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Netflix and Visa.

Another family of pickup trucks that is very popular in the United States, the Chevrolet Silverado also loses positions when the sales ranking is analyzed by model. The Silverado 1500 was the fifth best-selling vehicle in the United States in 2024, with 344,022 of the 542,517 units in the range made up of the Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500 and the electric Silverado EV.
