Toyota RAV4 shows that Americans don’t just want pickup trucks

The Toyota RAV4 surprised US automotive experts and ended 2024 in 3rd place in the overall sales ranking. It was proof that American consumers don’t just want pickup trucks, as Ram Truck models dropped from 3rd to 5th place.

Toyota’s SUV is offered in three configurations in the US. The combustion RAV4 starts at US$28,850, the RAV4 Hybrid costs US$31,900 and the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid starts at US$43,865. In Brazilian real, the approximate values ​​are 175 thousand, 194 thousand and 267 thousand, respectively.

According to consultancy Focus2Move, the Toyota RAV4 gained a position and finished in 3rd place with 475,195 sales (+9.3%). The best-selling car for the 48th consecutive year was the Ford F-Series with 763,940 units (+1.8%). The runner-up was the Chevrolet Silverado with 560,265 registrations (+0.9%).

The Ram 1500 Classic, the cheapest in the line, costs US$38,705 (approximately R$235,000), while the New Ram 1500 starts at US$40,275 (approximately R$245,000). Adding the models, the Ram Truck line (1500, 2500, 3500) finished only in 5th place with 378,118 sales (-16.1%), two positions below the previous year.

Before that, in 4th, came another SUV, the Honda CR-V, which rose one position and made 4002,791 registrations (+11.4). In 6th place was the number 1 electric car in the American market, the Tesla Model Y, with 313,699 sales (+4.5%).

The Toyota Camry moved up one place to 7th with 309,875 (+6.6%), followed by the GMC Sierra (down one place) with 298,698 (+1%) and the Nissan Rogue with 245,713 (-9.5%)

The Honda Civic rose six positions in the US market and closed the top 10 of the ranking with 242,005 sales (+20.8%).
