Toyota Hilux was the best-selling pickup truck outside the US in 2024

The Toyota Hilux was the best-selling midsize pickup truck in Brazil in 2024 with just over 50,000 registrations, handily surpassing its direct rivals Ford Ranger (31,860 units), Chevrolet S10 (27,402 units), Mitsubishi L200 (10,982 units), Nissan Frontier (9,258 units), Volkswagen Amarok (7,328 units) and Fiat Titano (6,223 units).

According to the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave), the Hilux only sold no more than Fiat Strada (144,684 registrations), Volkswagen Saveiro (56,984 units) and Fiat Toro (53,856 units), pickup trucks that are smaller and cheaper than the Toyota model.

Despite recording a -8.1% drop in global sales, the Toyota Hilux managed to secure third place in the overall pickup truck sales count, with 513,427 units sold. Only the Ford F-Series (903,454 units) and Chevrolet Silverado (639,889 units) outsold the Hilux last year.

According to the consultancy Focus2Move, the Hilux was the best-selling pickup truck outside of North America, the largest pickup truck market in the world led by the United States – so much so that it surpassed the Ram models (1500, 2500 and 3500).

Another highlight of the ranking, the Ford Maverick ended 2024 as the tenth best-selling pickup truck after its sales increased by almost 52%.
