Toyota had already announced the arrival of the Camry TRD in November last year, but only now have all its attributes been revealed.

TRD, if you don’t already know it, is the acronym for Toyota Racing Development, the manufacturer’s preparation department for automobile competitions in the United States.

The sports version of the sedan comes equipped with a 3.5 V6 engine with 301 hp and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Not bad for a sedan that has always been considered a “big guy”.

In terms of appearance, the new version received a rear spoiler, extended front air intakes, with glossy black moldings, two-tone black roof, dual exhaust outlets, black 19-inch wheels and a diffuser under the rear bumper.

Seeking better handling, Toyota reinforced the Camry’s suspension with firmer springs and shock absorbers, and even added a V-shaped arm at the rear, in order to improve its torsional rigidity.

With the recalibration, the height in relation to the ground was reduced by 1.5 cm.

Inside, the belts, seat stitching and even the instrument panel and multimedia center lighting in red do not let the driver forget that he is driving a TRD.

On the other hand, the steering wheel and the conservative design of the dashboard do not let the driver forget that he is in a Toyota.

The Camry TRD arrives in the United States with a base price of US$31,995, the equivalent of R$130,000 when converted into reais.

Avalon also receives TRD version

Another sedan that received a sports version prepared by TRD was the Avalon, including the same 301 hp V6 engine.
