When it comes to pickup trucks, few names carry as much weight as Ford and Chevrolet.
But in 2025, Dodge took the reliability crown..
According to the most recent data from JD Power, the Ram 1500 won the title of most reliable pickup truck of the year, surpassing the traditional F-150 e a Silverado 1500.
With an impressive 89 out of 100 reliability index score, the Ram showed that durability and robustness continue to be its greatest assets.
The score is based on the PP100 system (Problems per 100 vehicles), collected directly from owners over 90 days. Fewer problems equal a higher grade.
While the Ram 1500 scored 89 points, the Silverado scored 84 and the F-150 scored just 78, showing a significant drop in Ford’s performance. in terms of mechanical reliability.
Interestingly, the second place did not go to any American pickup truck, but rather to Hyundai Santa Cruz, which scored 87 points.
With a unibody structure, 2.5 naturally aspirated or turbocharged engine and a warranty of up to 10 years on the powertrain, the Korean model proves that reliability also comes in smaller and less conventional packages.
And the surprises don’t stop there. Among the Ford models, the one that appeared best in the ranking was not the classic F-150, but the Ford Rangerfollowed closely by the Ford Maverick — both surpassing the brand’s main line in terms of trust.
Next appear the Silverado 2500HD and a series of well-known Japanese companies: Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, Nissan Frontier e Honda Ridgeline.
Despite Ram’s good performance in reliability, Dodge as a general brand still has challenges, ranking among the worst in initial quality. However, when it comes to the Ram 1500, the focus on durability appears to have paid off.
Offering a five-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, as well as robust engine options such as the V6 eTorque, V8 Hemi and even a V8 Supercharged, the pickup delivers not only power, but mechanical consistency.
On the consumer side, the overall score — which considers driving experience, resale and service — still slightly favors the heavier versions of Ford and Chevrolet.
A Silverado The 2500HD got an 83, the F-350 got an 82, and the Ram 1500 got an 81. Still, when it comes to what really matters for those who want to drive a lot without headaches, the Ram has the advantage.
The JD Power study also points to a worrying trend: the general drop in the initial quality of vehicles in 2025. In the midst of this, reliable pickup trucks gain even more value for those who depend on them on a daily basis.
And at the top of this ranking, the one that shines in 2025 is the Dodge Ram 1500 — living proof that strength, when combined with reliability, makes all the difference.
