A film so rare (and so proud of being so) could not pass up the opportunity for its first showings to be just as eccentric. Before it opens in theaters around the world, ‘Bugonia’ has announced that it will celebrate some special screenings for those who shave their heads (just as Emma Stone does in the film).
“Next October 20, at the Culver Theater, there will be an advance pass of ‘Bugonia’ for anyone who is bald. If you’re not, go visit a barber to shave your head so you can watch the movie. The screening will be at 8:00 p.m., but we will have our hairdresser in the cinema from 6:00 p.m. for those who need it,” reads the announcement.

For those who have not yet heard of it, ‘Bugonia’ is one of our essentials on the list of films that you should not miss to follow the race for the 2026 Oscars. It is the new collaboration between Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone, whose tandem It’s already on par with DiCaprio and Scorsese. The collaborations between the two usually sweep the Dolby Theater in Hollywood (see the cases of ‘The Favorite’ and ‘Poor Creatures’, where both won statuettes).
On this occasion, his new satire will be a mix of science fiction, black humor and conspiracy paranoia. In ‘Bugonia’ we will follow two young people who kidnap the CEO of a company (Emma Stone) convinced that she is an alien. A delirious comedy about corporate power and misinformation in which there will be no shortage of symmetrical planesuncomfortable dialogues and a most disturbing atmosphere. For those not so radical (or those attached to their hair) ‘Bugonia’ will be released without requirements next November 7, 2025 in Spanish cinemas.
