The phenomenon, distributed by Universal Pictures, confirms the weight of children’s cinema in an autumn of moderate numbers, where Spanish premieres and international titles compete to maintain the public’s attention. In this order, Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Moviea film adaptation of the popular children’s series that mixes live action and animation, has debuted with 727,372 euros and 101,654 spectators in its first weekend, reaching an average of 2,508 euros per theater and a total that already exceeds 827,000 euros after the first days on the bill.

The success of this family production, in which Gloria Estefan plays Grandma Gigi, makes it the best children’s premiere of the fall and the highest-grossing title in the country, ahead of the historical comedy Dinnerstarring Casas and San Juan, and directed by Manuel Gómez Pereira. After passing through the San Sebastián Festival, the film has been released in second position with 450,106 euros and 62,730 spectators.

Set a few days after the end of the Spanish Civil War, it has received good reviews in specialized media and has sparked interest among adult audiences. However, Universal’s leadership, with its animated proposal, reflects how productions aimed at the whole family continue to be a fundamental driving force for cinemas, even above established stars on the national scene.

According to Comscore Movies, third place is occupied by Tron: Aresby Disney, which has accumulated 1.27 million euros after ten days on the billboard, and suffers a drop of more than 50% regarding its premiere. They complete the Top 10 titles as One battle after another, Warren File: The Last Rite o Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. In total, the Spanish box office from October 17 to 19 generated 3.35 million euros and 446,902 spectators, a slight increase that breaks the negative trend of recent weeks and shows that family audiences continue to set the course for national cinemas.
