The cast of Sexa, including Glória Pires, Thiago Martins, Isabel Fillardis and Danilo Mesquita, met this Friday (03) for the first screening of the film at the Rio 2025 Festival.
With Sexa, Glória Pires filled the room at Cine Odeon, in Rio de Janeiro, and guaranteed a mix of laughter and excitement for the audience. The film had its first screening last Friday (3), during the Rio 2025 Festival, in a night full of celebration.
Among those present were great artists and friends of the director, such as Carlinhos de Jesus, Marcos Palmeira and Marcos Frota, her duo in the iconic soap opera Mulheres de Areia. Set in Rio de Janeiro, the film marks a new phase in the actress’s journey, after a 57-year career, and brings to light the reflections of women in their sixties.
What is the story of Sexa?
Em TrapBárbara (Glória Pires) is a woman who has just turned 60 and faces a crisis related to her aging. She spends her days between work as a proofreader, mocking and fun conversations with her best friend and neighbor Cristina (Isabel Fillardis) and dilemmas with her toxic and abusive son.
Disappointed with her love life and without hope because of her age, Bárbara decides to abandon the idea of finding a new love once and for all. But everything changes when, on her birthday, she meets Davi (Thiago Martins), a widower 25 years younger, and a passion soon arises between them. Now, Bárbara needs to decide between living this new love intensely or bowing to fear and judgments about the age difference between the two.

The production features a script by Guilherme Gonzalez and a cast with names such as Danilo Mesquita, Eri Johnson, Rosamaria Murtinho and Dan Ferreira. The film is produced by Giros Filmes and Audaz, with co-production by Paramount Pictures Brasil.
Sexa reveals the importance of female friendship at all ages
In addition to a romantic story, Trap reveals itself much more as a film about female power. From Bárbara’s journey, we see how female empowerment plays a fundamental role at all stages of life, including at age 60.
Furthermore, Glória Pires and Isabel Fillardis masterfully show how true friendship between women is fundamental to enhancing a life of courage and joy, especially at an age when many women face loneliness.

During the debut at the Festival, Glória Pires talks about recognition and regulation of the audiovisual sector
Before screening the film, the actress and director took advantage of the occasion to draw attention to issues in the audiovisual market. “We, who are artists, audiovisual interpreters, now in 2025, are completing 20 years of struggle for the recognition of remuneration rights. (…) I ask for your support for our cause, because there is already a PL (bill), and I also ask for attention to the regulation of VOD, which will guarantee the protection of the rights of producers and the entire Brazilian audiovisual chain”, declared Glória Pires, reinforcing her support for the PL that deals with of Video on Demand (VOD) regulation.
Trap is showing at the Rio 2025 Festival and will premiere in cinemas on December 11th.
