Ram will have the first SUV in its history and sports versions with a V8 Hemi engine

Ram, considered the pickup truck brand of the Stellantis group, will have its own SUV. The information was revealed by the website Automotive News. According to the publication, Antonio Filosa, CEO of the group, informed Wall Street financial analysts about the model.

Interestingly, according to the publication, the SUV is scheduled to reach the North American market in the same year as a new mid-size pickup, which could be called Dakota, like the pickup recently presented in South America.

The SUV will be produced in Michigan and will have a combustion engine, in addition to a version with technology similar to the Leapmotor. Therefore, we are talking about an EREV, which is a car powered by electric motors, but is equipped with a combustion engine used as a power generator.

The chosen factory is the same one where Jeep produces the Grand Wagoneer, however it is not yet clear whether Ram will use the same base and engines. The fact is that Ram’s SUV will only reach the market thanks to an investment cycle of US$ 13 billion.

Another new feature announced by Filosa is the introduction of SRT versions, Dodge’s high-performance division, in the Ram model. It is worth mentioning that the acronym currently only has the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat.

Filosa guaranteed that Ram’s new features with the SRT division will be launched in the next three months. One of the models is expected to be the return of the Ram 1500 TRX, which will have the Hemi V8 engine.

The big mystery will remain for the second model. The other pickups, such as the 2500 and 3500, do not have the appeal for this type of preparation. The other option in the current range is the ProMaster van, which does not appear to be Stellantis’ plan.

Therefore, it is possible that the Ram 1500 will gain another sporty version, but with urban appeal, like the Ram 1500 The Dude concept, presented at SEMA. In the case of the concept, seen in the photo that opens this article, the bodywork is painted in a very striking shade of green and the wheels are 22 inches.
