RAM’s mid-size pickup will bring back famous name, and could return to the market as early as 2026
A Ram officially revealed the first images of the new Dakotaa midsize pickup truck that marks the return of a classic name to the brand’s portfolio. The photos highlight the robust design and a refined interior, which combines premium finishing with advanced technological features, reinforcing the North American manufacturer’s characteristic pillars.
Produced at the Stellantis pickup truck hub in Córdoba, Argentina, the same plant that assembles the Fiat Titanthe Dakota will be the group’s second model manufactured at the unit. The pickup will occupy an intermediate position between the Rampage and Ram’s large pickup trucks, expanding the brand’s offering in the region. The launch in Brazil is confirmed for 2026, with subsequent arrival in other countries in South America.
New Dakota was anticipated by the Nightfall concept
Initially presented as a concept Nightfallthe new Dakota drew attention for its bold proposal and direct inspiration from the classic lines of the old Dodge Dakota, produced in Brazil between 1998 and 2001. The prototype anticipated design elements that reached the final version, such as the front grille with the name “RAM” cut out, the LED signature that runs across the entire front and the hood with air intakes illuminated by three points of orange light.
Even treated as a concept, Dakota Nightfall already showed the direction the brand intends to follow. The model featured a muscular body, raised Fox suspension, 33-inch all-terrain tires and 18-inch wheels with a beadlock system, which prevents the tire from detaching in extreme situations. The bed had the spare tire fixed to a Rambar-type bumper with LED lights, while the “C”-shaped taillights reinforced the visual identity of the brand’s larger pickup trucks.
The new Dakota arrives to face established rivals in the medium pickup truck segment, such as Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger e Chevrolet S10offering robustness and a more luxurious proposal than the Fiat Titano, for example.
