Ram cancels all-electric pickup

Stellantis has canceled production of a fully electric version of the Ram 1500 pickup, which the North American brand has been developing.

The decision comes after several delays in the pickup that Ram revealed in 2023, and which was initially scheduled to hit the market in 2024. According to the “Automotive News”, the company recently informed its suppliers that production would start in the summer of 2027, however, the decision has now been taken to cancel production of the electric RAM 1500, due to the drop in demand for 100% electric vehicles.

“As demand for all-electric pickup trucks declines in North America, Stellantis is reviewing its product strategy and will discontinue development of an all-electric model.”the company said in a statement.

Despite this, the North American brand has already confirmed that it will launch a pick-up with extended autonomy next year, which combines a small generator powered by a combustion engine with a fully electric one, which will be called Ram1500 REV.
