Part 2′ will be played by a ‘very famous’ actor, reveals director

Wicked: Parte 2second and final chapter of the adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, starring Cynthia Erivo (Harriet: The Road to Freedom) and Ariana Grande (Don’t Look Up), will have a “very famous” actor playing the role of the Cowardly Lion, according to director Jon M. Chu himself (Filthy Rich).

In an interview with Deadline, Chu revealed that the actor will only be revealed on the red carpet of the sequel’s premiere, highlighting the unusual way in which the invitation was made: via messages on Instagram.

“I said, ‘Not many lines, but maybe you have some time. I know you’re busy. I’ll come to you.’ He replied: ‘Why not? Let’s go!’ And then we went ahead and recorded the lines“, said the filmmaker, who added, between laughs: “Wait until the red carpet when the actor who gave us the voice of the Cowardly Lion steps on it. It’s going to be amazing.”

What is the story of Wicked?

Wicked tells the story of two unlikely friends, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), before returning to Wicked Witch of the Weste Glinda (Ariana Grande), the future Good Witch of the Southwho become best friends, even with opposing personalities, different points of view and the fight for the love of the same man.

In addition to Cynthia Erivo e Ariana Grande — which, in Brazil, gained the voices of Myra Ruiz and Fabi Bang, interpreters of Elphaba e Glinda no theater, respectively —, or cast of Wicked still has Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Travel Companions), Bowen Yang (Megaromantic, Saturday Night Live), Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park) e Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere at the Same Time), between others.

When does it debut Wicked: Parte 2?

Based on the Broadway hit created by Stephen Schwartz e Winnie Holzmanand directed by Jobs Men (In a New York Neighborhood), Wicked: Parte 2 is scheduled to debut in Brazilian cinemas on November 20. Watch the final trailer for the new feature:
