One of the best adventure and science fiction films of recent years is available on Netflix

One thing that Netflix has managed to do very well in recent years in terms of cinema is to get hold of the rights to promising titles. One of them is Love and Monsters (2020), one of the best adventure and science fiction films of recent years.

A great adventure without a hint of cynicism

One of the first things that surprises about the film is the behind-the-scenes solvency of Michael Matthews, who hasn’t signed a feature film since then. And it’s a shame, because it knows how to play very well with the means at its disposal to update the classic cinema of respectable giant monsters, also offering the appearance of multiple creatures, but without this implying that it is the only important thing about the show.

Check out the trailer below:

It’s true that the script written by Brian Duffield and Matthew Robinson doesn’t offer anything particularly good, but anyone looking to see adventure films with a more classic approach will find something very worthwhile here. Of course, don’t expect demystifications or constant use of humor to try to connect with new generations. Here everything is a little more naive, leaving aside any type of cynicism and always having things very clear.

In short, I can’t say that Love and Monsters is an essential film, but it is easily superior to 95% of feature films released on Netflix. Well led by an effective Dylan O’Brien and with very stimulating sparks, such as the brief appearance of Michael Rooker, it is simply a (quite) good adventure film with giant monsters. And there are not many of them.
