After the Corolla, the Camry is Toyota’s second most important name when we talk about sedans. Although in Brazil it sells to a niche audience, positioned as a large luxury sedan, in markets like the United States its role is a little simpler, it sells around 300 thousand units per year, which justifies this new Camry.
The 2025 Toyota Camry is the ninth generation of the sedan. It retires combustion-only engines and becomes hybrid only, with the option of front or all-wheel drive, and four different versions at least in the North American market. The bad news is that he ended up losing the classic V6, which had already said goodbye to Brazil in 2021.
Its hybrid powertrain combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors. The front-wheel drive variant gets two electric motors and produces a total of 225 hp. The AWD version adds a third motor-generator to the rear axle, increasing total power to 232 hp. Both powertrains use an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT). The hybrid system uses a lithium-ion battery, but Toyota isn’t disclosing its capacity until closer to the launch of the new Camry.
It looks like the V6 engine is dead in the Camry. “This is just part of the move to a fully hybrid system,” a spokesperson told Engine1. “(The) new system will have ample power and will be retuned to provide a greater performance driving sensation.”
However, this ninth-generation Camry is a heavy upgrade, not an all-new car. The 2025 model rides on the same TNGA-K platform that was under the eighth-generation model, however, there is a reworked suspension with new shock absorbers and revised tuning. The automaker claims the setup offers “enhanced responsiveness and agile handling.”
The 2025 Camry has a similar appearance to the eighth-generation model, with a large lower front grille and slim headlights. The new model has LED headlights, running lights and taillights as standard. Ocean Gem and Heavy Metal are the new paint options available, in addition to the Camry’s current colors of Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, Celestial Silver Metallic, Underground, Midnight Black Metallic, Supersonic Red and Reservoir Blue.
The XSE model has a body-color lower fascia, black trunk trim, and 19-inch wheels. It is available with a Midnight Black Metallic roof in combination with Ocean Gem, Wind Chill Pearl, Heavy Metal and Supersonic Red.
The Camry comes with a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8.0-inch infotainment screen. The XLE and XSE feature 12.3-inch screens for gauges and multimedia functions. The technology includes support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as having a wireless charging base. Higher trims also offer a 10.0-inch head-up display. There’s also a nine-speaker JBL system available.
The various versions offer different upholstery. The SE uses SofTex with white accents over Boulder or Black. The LE features fabric with an embossed ocean wave pattern. The XSE has leather in black or bright red, and the XLE’s leather is also finished in Dinamica microfiber. XLE and XSE models have optional heated and ventilated seats. These versions also come with acoustic laminated glass for the front windows to reduce wind noise in the cabin.
Every 2025 Camry comes with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of technology. It includes a pre-collision system that detects vehicles and pedestrians, adaptive cruise control, lane departure assist, traffic sign assist, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. The XLE and XSE offer an optional Premium Plus Package that adds traffic jam assist, front cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, a surround-view monitor, and front and rear parking assist with automatic braking.

There’s no word yet on a sporty TRD trim. When asked, Toyota said this announcement covered all trims and powertrains for 2025, which didn’t close the door on the model eventually returning. The Camry is still an important vehicle for the brand. In 2022, the Camry was the fifth best-selling vehicle in the United States, with 295,201 deliveries. In fourth place was Toyota’s own RAV4, with 399,941 units. If you continue with the same strategy in Brazil, the new Camry could arrive here in 2025 in a few units.
