Presented on the North American market at the end of 2017 and restyled in mid-2021, the current generation of the Silverado pickup truck should soon have a successor. This is what the captures carried out by our colleagues at the GM Authoritywho spotted a unit of the new pick-up truck driving in heavy camouflage through the American blizzard.
A few months ago, the portal itself had already revealed that General Motors was developing a new lineage for the truck. The project includes both the Silverado 1500 (the most popular version and the only one offered in Brazil) and the sister GMC Sierra 1500 (design with exclusive elements and a more luxurious proposal). Both will exchange the T1-1 platform for the T1-2 architecture, considered an evolution of the current one and equipped with a series of technical and dynamic advances.

Under the hood, the new pickups will adopt a new line of V8 gasoline engines from the Small Block family with improvements in terms of performance and efficiency. There is talk of a reduction of at least 10% in greenhouse gas emissions compared to current propellants.
General Motors is investing around US$579 million to produce these new engines at its Flint, Michigan plant.

Despite the prototype’s heavy camouflage, it is possible to see that the front features a set of provisional headlights (not yet definitive) that delimit a grille with at least four horizontal slats, in addition to a front camera peeking out from behind a cutout in the camouflage. Note that the headlights are positioned a little lower at the front than those of the current Silverado 1500.
Further down, on the front bumper, there are fog lights and a set of sensors. At the bottom, a front deflector is also present. Furthermore, this prototype also does not have an antenna on the roof.

On the side, we can see a set of spoked wheels still with heavy camouflage. The wheels carry a set of Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires. The rear view mirrors appear to come from the current model, although they appear to be on a new bracket.
A set of vertical LED strips are visible on the front of the mirrors to provide perimeter lighting functionality, much like current models. There is also a fixed running board that appears to extend beyond the cabin junction.

Silverado PHEV is coming
The next Silverado and Sierra will also have new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, which will bridge the gap between the traditional gasoline variants and the already known Silverado EV and Sierra EV. Chevrolet had been leaving hybrid technology aside in recent years, but recently changed its mind due to the slowdown in global demand for electric vehicles.
