On October 16, 2025, Paramount Home Entertainment released the Christopher McQuarrie-directed action thriller “Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning” (Great Britain, USA 2025) with Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Vanessa Kirby distributed by Universal Pictures including bonus disc with extras on Blu-ray in a keep case HDR10 and Dolby Vision on Ultra HD Blu-ray as a standard edition and in two versions (one exclusively in Germany at Amazon.de) in a limited edition 4K-Steelbook brought onto the market. Each variant includes German and English Dolby-Atmos-Ton. You can find out everything you need to know about the feature film, the features and the picture and sound quality of the Blu-ray and 4K UHD here in the new review by Jörn Pomplitz. Our reviewer examined “Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning” on both media and said at the end of his review:

Whether the “Final Reckoning” is really Tom Cruise’s last outing as secret agent “Ethan Hunt” remains to be seen. After all, he and director Christopher McQuarrie are still open to the franchise. But it’s also clear that as you get older, the bar for action sequences can hardly be raised. Even here, things are taking a more relaxed approach, at least in that they are serving their audience fewer action scenes. But that doesn’t mean that it’s any less spectacular, because an extremely exciting diving scene and a flight duel in the clouds show that Cruise really put in the work and tested his limits – even exceeded them, as you can find out in the bonus material. In terms of content, people are exaggerating a bit when it comes to artificial intelligence, but perhaps they also want to show what dangers can arise from it. Various flashbacks at the beginning provide a lot of fan service, but also a somewhat confusing narrative, which is put aside by the second half of the film at the latest. Otherwise it fits seamlessly into the previous parts – nothing more, but nothing less either. Technically, the blue windows are definitely worth seeing and hearing: a detailed and high-contrast image, which only occasionally suffers slightly due to the dark locations, is paired with a powerful surround sound that sometimes makes the sofa vibrate. The bonus material is again quite brief, but still shows very well how much effort was put into the film and that Tom Cruise is one of the biggest action stars of his time. All in all, a worthy conclusion to an extraordinary film series – so far.

Contents: Although Agent Ethan Hunt (T. Cruise) and his IMF team lost a beloved member on their last mission, the search for an artificial intelligence called “Entity” continues without delay. AI has already infiltrated numerous international intelligence agencies and is capable of forever changing the world as we know it. The Russian submarine “Sevastopol” seems to play an important role. For Hunt and his people it’s a race against time, because the dangerous AI henchman Gabriel (E. Morales) is also looking for the Sevastopol in order to plunge humanity into chaos… (sw)
