I Play Rocky, Anthony Ippolito transforms into Sylvester Stallone in the first image from the set

It’s called I Play Rocky the making of Rocky which traces the first steps of Sylvester Stallone to share his vision of Rocky Balboa with the world. Directed by Peter Farrellythe biopic has long since chosen its protagonist: a young Stallone is playing the role Anthony Ippolito and, from the first images leaked from the set, his look seems to work.

I Play Rocky aims to tell the long battle of Sylvester Stallone, who decided to tell Rocky’s story in his own way, without batting an eyelid at the demands of the Studios. He would have proposed Rocky to the cinema only if he could also play him and so it was. Stallone, in addition to ensuring the success of the on-screen character who then launched a franchise worth 1.9 billion dollars, he also worked behind the scenes writing the story of Rocky Balboa himself, for which he fought to protect his artistic work and succeeded.

As reported ETI Play Rocky is “the true story of an unknown actor with the unshakeable belief that he was destined not just to write Rocky, but to be Rocky Balboa.” The cast also includes Matt Dillon as Frank Stallone Sr., Stephan James in that of Carl Weathers and Robba Robbel in that of Sasha Czack, Stallone’s ex-wife. The biopic, distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, has just started filming but has not yet set a release date.
