A team of Chevrolet engineers covered a huge distance with a Silverado EV Max Range Work Truck electric pickup, with a full charge, achieving great autonomy.

The event was announced last month, but now GM goes behind the scenes to show exactly how these engineers accomplished this feat.

The US Environmental Agency (EPA) estimates that the battery life of the Chevrolet Silverado EV Max Range Work Truck 2026 is up to 793 km equivalent.

But thanks to precise steering and some minor setup tweaks, the Chevrolet team managed to travel more than twice that distance on a full charge, surpassing the world record of 1,205 km set by Lucid earlier this year.

The GM pickup’s hardware and software remained intact, and the only adjustments included the following driver habits and minor configuration adjustments, all within the acceptable limits established in the truck’s owner’s manual.

  • When it was safe to do so, drivers were advised to maintain an average speed of up to 40 km/h and minimize any harsh braking or rapid acceleration.
  • During most of the test, there were no passengers in the Silverado EV.
  • The windshield wiper arms have been adjusted to the lowest acceptable position to reduce drag.
  • The tires have been inflated to the highest acceptable pressure for lower rolling resistance.
  • The spare tire was removed to make the vehicle lighter.
  • Wheel alignment has been optimized.
  • An accessory canvas cover has been added for smooth airflow.
  • The climate control was turned off throughout the test.
  • And finally, the test was carried out in the summer to obtain the ideal ambient temperature for battery efficiency.
