Hollywood star for “Freddy Krueger” star on Halloween

Los Angeles (dpa) – The timing is perfect: On the scary holiday of Halloween, horror actor Robert Englund (78) is to be immortalized with a star plaque on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame”. According to the organizers, the actor, who gave goosebumps as Freddy Krueger in the “Nightmare” series, will receive the 2,826th. Plaque on the famous sidewalk. “Cabin Fever” director Eli Roth (53) and actress Heather Langenkamp (61) are invited as guest speakers at the ceremony on October 31st. The latter played a teenager in the original 1984 film “Nightmare – Murderous Dreams” who is threatened in her dreams by the serial killer Freddy Krueger.

Famous as Freddy Krueger

Director Wes Craven hired Englund to play the murderer, who hunted his victims with a disfigured face and sharp claws. He played Freddy Krueger seven more times, most recently in “Freddy vs. Jason” in 2003.

Englund appeared in more than 80 films and television series in his career, for example alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in Mr. Universe (1976) and with Barbra Streisand in “A Star Is Born” (1976). In 2022 he appeared in the fourth season of the Netflix mystery series “Stranger Things”.
