GMC Sierra HD AT4X, Silverado’s cousin coming to Brazil

Anyone who was surprised by the Chevrolet Silverado, given to the winner of BBB 23, will be surprised by the GMC Sierra HD AT4X. This is the off-road version of the Sierra line’s elongated body option.

It is the Silverado’s bigger cousin, the size of the Ram 2500, but prepared for off-road use. The giant completes the line of GMC sedans, alongside the Canyon AT4X and Sierra 1500 AT4X.

“Each model offers unique strengths, with the all-new Sierra HD AT4X taking it to the max, offering our customers the most luxurious, off-road capable HD we’ve ever offered. AT4X means you can conquer almost any terrain, in complete comfort and with towing power to take your recreational toys, gear or trailer for adventure,” says Buick-GMC Global Vice President Duncan Aldred.

• Unlike the Silverado’s 6.2 V8, which arrives in Brazil in the second half of the year, the big GMC car is equipped with the immense Duramax 6.6 turbodiesel with 470 hp and an impressive 135 kgfm of torque.

• This “power plant” allows the Sierra HD AT4X to have a towing capacity of up to 8.4 tons. The pickup can pull the implement using a conventional trailer or fifth wheel, installed in the bed.

• The engine is connected to a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission, the same as the Silverado. It also has all-wheel drive, with electronic rear differential lock.

• To tackle rough terrain, the Sierra HD AT4X’s suspension was raised by 38 mm. It also gets Multimatic DSSV off-road shock absorbers.

• GMC installed huge 35-inch Goodyear Territory tires, mounted on 18-inch Salta wheels.

For now, the GMC Sierra HD AT4X will only be sold in the United States. Its sales will begin in the third quarter. Prices should start at US$90,000 (R$455,000).
