GM presents new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra

As we mentioned, General Motors presented this Thursday (13) the new generations of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. The pickup trucks were presented at an event held in Detroit, United States.

The highlight of the new models are the three available engine options. The entry option is the 4.3 V6, going through the 5.3 V8 and the top-of-the-line version having the 6.2 V8. In all cases, cylinder deactivation technology is present. The respective powers, however, were not revealed.

According to the automaker, another new feature in the pickup trucks is better cabin sealing, reducing noise heard internally. There was an improvement in the quality of the material used in the internal lining, with soft-touch materials.

As for entertainment, both Silverado and Sierra have a 4.2-inch multimedia system, with USB and SD inputs. As an option, a device with an 8-inch screen and IntelliLink system is available.

In terms of safety, the list of standard items includes: ABS brakes, frontal collision warning system, departure alert, parking assistant, rear camera, among others.

Prices for the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra have not yet been defined. Production of the models is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2013.
