It’s bittersweet Five secondsthe new film by Paolo Virzì premiered at the (Grand Public section), in theaters from October 30th.
Paolo Virzì: «You can’t help but try to make the two things coexist, pain and trust, it’s a story that unravels slowly and in a miserable way with a grumpy guy whose details or history at the beginning we don’t know».
The man in question is Valerio Mastandrea retreated alone to the stables of a ruined villa; a man tried by suffering who then opens up, little by little, after an initial clash, to a group of boys who illegally occupy the estate, transformed into a sort of municipality, to take care of the abandoned countryside, among which there is a sunny, pregnant countess. «It is told how this apparently run-down creature reactivates, at first in a neurotic, anxious form, because others bother him, because he can’t stand intrusions, because he would like to be alone, but then this encounter generates relationships, and probably also a form of repair».
Valeria Bruni Tedeschi: «I rediscovered Virzì’s universe»
In the background a difficult family affair, a serious loss and a woman who has always been by his side, in her own way, a little outside the lines, played by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi: «I have rediscovered Paolo’s universe which every time seems organic to me, it seems like a dress that feels good, but which also forces me to make a small effort that I don’t always make in life, which is to put myself in contact with joy, with light, with gratitude towards life».
