A “Flying Ranger Raptor”which went viral in Brazil in May, seems to have inspired amateur pilots around the world. In the United States, the owner of a Ford F-150 Raptor tried to emulate the daring maneuver of the driver from Canoa Quebrada (CE), but the result was very different from what was expected: the American pickup truck ended up overturning after an incorrect trajectory calculation.

While in Ceará, Ranger used a dune as a ramp for its impressive flight, the F-150 driver in the USA chose to use the road’s own terrain to gain momentum. A video circulating on social media shows the F-150 accelerating hard in an attempt to take off, but, instead of a controlled flight, the pickup truck loses control and falls over.

The impact of the rear axle with the obstacle was stronger than expected, lifting the rear of the F-150 until it rolled over.

Brazilian Ranger Raptor: The Epic Leap and Its Costs

The F-150’s jump was much smaller than the Brazilian’s, but equally impactful for the pickup truck. In the case of the Brazilian Ranger Raptor, the maneuver was spectacular, with estimates that the flight exceeded 85 meters away and reached about 14 meters high. Despite not having rolled over, the Ranger suffered serious structural damage.

The airbags were deployed, the wheels were deformed and the front suspension system was destroyed.

The Ford Ranger Raptor is a high-performance pickup truck, sold in Brazil from R$ 490 mil. Equipped with an engine 3.0 V6 biturbo gasolineshe delivers 397 hp of power and 59.4 kgfm of torqueaccelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. Its published consumption is 8.3 km/liter in the city and 10.2 km/liter on the highway, with an 82-liter tank.

The Flying Ranger Becomes a Digital Celebrity

Interestingly, the Brazilian Ranger Raptor, after the famous “flight”, got its own profile on Instagram (@raptorvoadoraoficial), where the new owner, Alisson, shares the condition of the pickup in a good-humored way.

One of the videos shows the Ford instrument panel full of alerts, including messages such as “Defective tire pressure system”, “Check brake system” and “Vehicle maintenance required soon”, highlighting the damage suffered.

Despite the inspirationthe American attempt with the F-150 serves as a reminder that maneuvers like these, as impressive as they may seem, are extremely dangerous and can result in serious vehicle damage and safety hazards.
