In dialogue with the Radio Brisas cell phone, Peretti expressed his satisfaction with the result of the project.

the movie “The Death of a Comedian”, directed and starring Diego Peretti, was screened at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, marking a new chapter in the career of the renowned actor, who also debuted as a director.

In dialogue with the Radio Brisas mobile phone, Peretti expressed his satisfaction with the result of the project and highlighted the free spirit with which it was conceived:

They saw that the film is quite original, quite personal, and it is a cinema made with absolute freedom. There is no producer of a platform next to it telling you how long a scene has to last or which actors should be there. It is a vocational, artisanal, supposedly artistic and poetic cinema,” he said.

The actor also highlighted the artistic quality of the production: “It has extraordinary music, very beautiful photography, and there are times when the algorithmic parameters of commercial cinema do not allow you to stretch your arms with the freedom that cinema should have,” he stated.

Asked about his future behind the camera, Peretti said that he has no “vocation to continue directing an upcoming script,” although he does not rule out doing it again. “if there is the possibility of expanding poetically in cinema.”

The story of “The Death of a Comedian” follows Juan Debré, an actor who receives devastating news: an illness will end his life in a few months. Before that happens, he decides to fulfill a childhood dream that will take him to cross the ocean.

The project began in 2022 under the Orsai Audiovisuales labela community promoted by Hernán Casciari and Chiri Basilis, who opened collective financing for the film under the name “Peretti Project”.

The original idea belongs to Peretti himself, who in 2018 approached the Orsai community. The script, rewritten by himself together with Javier Beltramino, finally became a co-production recorded in Buenos Aires and Brussels.

During the process, the producing partners were able to follow different stages of filming live, participate as extras and witness script readings, rehearsals and backstage.

“I am very happy with the story, with the product, with everything in general. They are experiences that one carries with them for the rest of their lives. Very grateful to everyone,” Peretti closed with emotion.
