After 43 years, Toyota Camry will no longer be sold in Japan

It’s not just in Brazil that SUVs are killing sedans. In Japan, consumers are also giving preference to larger vehicles, such as SUVs and even minivans. With little space in the local market, the Toyota Camry will no longer be sold in its home country after 43 years.

The Camry is one of the best-selling cars in Toyota’s history. It accumulates more than 21 million units around the world. In Japan alone there were 1.3 million. But things weren’t easy for the sedan, which had just 6,000 registrations in Japan last year.
According to the Nikkei Asia website, resellers have already been informed about the end of production, which will cease for good at the end of the year. Most of them have already closed sales and stopped taking new orders.

In the land of Uncle Sam, the sedan had a great time at the beginning of the century, being the best-selling car in the country between 2001 and 2015. Currently, SUVs have stolen the spotlight, but the Camry remains the favorite among sedans.
