Considered one of the main attractions of the new generation of the Honda CR-V, the 1.5 turbo engine — which also powers the Civic Touring — is a cause for concern among SUV owners in the United States. According to Consumer Reports magazine, owners have reported the emergence of defects within the first few months of use, some of them related to the internal mixture of gasoline and oil.

The consequences of the problem at the wheel are an abrupt loss of power, the smell of gasoline in the interior and a maximum speed that is emergency limited to just 30 km/h. At least for now, in Brazil, no case of the defect has been reported, although the new units Honda CR-V
imported into the country all come from the USA.

Complaints were also made to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (the body that regulates road safety in the USA). With this, what Honda declares through spokesperson Chris Martin is that “it is investigating the situation and developing a solution in recall
for the non-motor problem
of the Honda CR-V, which is expected to be resolved with the authorized network by mid-November 2018″.

Engine that is not just from the Honda CR-V

Martin also said that repairs will be covered under warranty and also applied to the 2019 model year CR-V before it goes on sale. The 1.5 turbo engine has specific adjustments to generate more power than in the Civic, for example. In Brazil, where no case of defect has been reported so far, it produces 173 hp in the sedan and 190 hp in the SUV, reaching 208 hp in the Civic Si sports coupe.

Previously sold in Brazil for around R$ 140 thousand, the new generation of Honda CR-V
