Sedan reaches its eighth generation with a more modern look, to attract young people.
Model that will arrive in Brazil must have ‘European lines’, says executive.

The Toyota Camry, the best-selling car in the United States, gained a new generation, presented at the Detroit Motor Show. However, the large sedan (considered medium in the USA) is far from Brazil.
“In the United States it (the Camry) is more sporty. In Brazil it should follow European lines, like the Corolla,” said Steve St Angelo, Toyota’s executive president for Latin America and the Caribbean.
This may indicate that the American model will not arrive here. The solution for Brazil would be to wait for a generation change in the European Toyota Camry, which is made in Russia, and then have the sedan updated.
Returning to the American market, the Camry is essential for Toyota. In sales, it only loses to the trio of pickup trucks, RAM, Silverado and the leader, F-150.

There are also two new engines: a 3.5 V6 with direct injection and a 2.5 4-cylinder – the latter will also be used in the hybrid version.
And in this eighth generation, the automaker wanted to make the sedan’s image younger. So much so that the conservative lines were left aside, to include lanterns and headlights full of creases and irregular shapes and even a roof painted black.
At the front, the part of the grille that bears the Toyota logo forms a V. The new Camry will be offered in four versions: LE, XLE, SE and XSE. While the last two have a sporty proposal, the XLE is the most luxurious.
