Stellantis confirmed, through Antonio Filosa, the company’s CEO, that Ram will have a new mid-size pickup truck on the American market from 2027, with the product being a rival to pickup trucks such as the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger and Nissan Frontier.

Since the end of the Dodge Dakota, Stellantis has not had a midsize pickup truck in the American market and even in South America, the Ram started selling the Fiat Titano pickup truck under its brand in the Mexican market and other regions.

In addition, from 2026 onwards, Ram will have a local reinterpretation of the Dakota, but still based on the Titano Argentina. However, as these are products associated with a Chinese vehicle, in this case the Kaicene F70, Stellantis does not intend to place this product on the American market.

The new car is now in the development phase, with Filosa revealing the current stage of the process. He said: “Two weeks ago, it was at our design center in Detroit, and I saw the truck itself, not just the sketches and designs, but also the clay model. And it’s just beautiful.”

Antônio Filosa even jokingly suggested that the American press could see the new pickup in Detroit, but without cameras or cell phones, which we obviously know would never happen at this stage of development.

Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Ram, indicated that the new mid-size pickup will have a spar chassis and a steel cabin, indicating that Stellantis will focus on robustness and the product will not compete directly with Honda Ridgeline, the only one on the market in regular size, with unibody.

In this case, we can expect both the Hurricane 6 3.0 engine in a tame version, as well as an R/T or Rebel version with the 5.7 V8 HEMI as the top of the line, which would be a differentiator in the segment, dominated by V6 engines. He comes? Not coming… We will have the Ram Dakota, already mentioned.
