Toyota takes sports saloon prototype to SEMA

In addition to the more aggressive aesthetic kit, the Camry GT-S has an adjustable suspension, larger brakes, 20-inch wheels and tires with more grip.

Toyota is determined not to let the tradition of sports saloons die. And an example of this is the Camry GT-S prototype that will take to the next edition of SEMA, which will take place as usual in November, in Las Vegas (in the USA).

The Toyota Camry is the best-selling sedan in the USA, recognized for its reliability and efficiency. However, the Japanese brand wanted to “spice up” the concept, having based it on an XSE AWD version to make these GT-S. Without changing the hybrid drive system based on a 2.5 four-cylinder engine that operates in conjunction with three electric motors for a total of 232 hp, nor the interior, Toyota goes first of all with an Inferno Flare color that contrasts with the black roof. Added to this is a redesigned front bumper, a more pronounced grille and black side skirts. The distinctive aesthetic kit is also visible through the side fins on the front and rear. At the back, there is a black piece that serves as a frame for the bumper, which includes a diffuser underneath. A sports exhaust is also visible there.

To improve performance, an adjustable coil-over suspension was included, which lowers the ground height by 38 mm, 20-inch black wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires measuring 245/35. The brakes were also improved with the inclusion of 365 mm discs at the front and 355 mm at the rear, “bitten” by eight- and six-piston calipers, respectively. The GT-S was made by the CALTY Design Research team in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and paves the way for a possible sedan with a more aggressive look.
