GMC Sierra 1500 arrives in the US to rival RAM

General Motors presented the new GMC Sierra 1500 2022, a pickup truck launched on the North American market in eight versions: Pro WT, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X and Denali Ultimate.

The new GMC Sierra 1500 promises to compete for space with the RAM 1500 and Ford 1500. The new model features improvements in the cabin, being offered with a 13.4-inch Google-integrated multimedia center, available from the SLE version onwards.

The alert monitor, intended to assist the driver, is 15 inches and the instrument panel is 12.3 inches.

The top-of-the-line Denali Ultimate version arrives with a very refined cabin thanks to the leather on the seats and dashboard finish. The roof has a coating called premium microsuede.

The car’s dashboard is also reinforced with wood, bringing even more robustness to the pickup and the design of a topographic map as a detail draws attention.

The new model, aimed at off-road use, offers autonomous navigation on thousands of km of roads in Canada and the United States.

The AT4X version was produced with a focus on reinforcing the mechanical part of the truck. The engine and transmission are the same as the Denali Ultimate, but the shock absorbers are adjustable, with the springs increasing the maximum travel of the front suspension by up to 50 mm and at the rear by 25 mm, compared to the AT4 variant.

The AT4X is also offered with a differential lock called front and rear e-lock, in addition to the off-road chassis and specific suspension calibration.

There are several engine options. Among them is the 5.3-liter V8 engine in the most expensive versions with 360 hp and 53 kgfm of torque.

The new pickup also has versions with two different turbo engines, the 2.7 turbodiesel, the same as the previous generation, being the first of them. With a new update, power reaches 314 hp and 58 kgfm of torque. The last option is the I-6 turbodiesel 3.0, which allows the GMC Sierra to tow 5,987 kg with 280 hp and 63.6 kgfm.

With no plans to arrive in Brazil, the pickup is offered to the American market starting at U$32,495 (R$183,271), but at the top of the line prices can almost triple: U$80,395 (R$456,473) is the price charged by the Denali Ultimate.
