Toyota announces recall in Brazil for RAV4 PHEV and GR Corolla; understand

A Toyota announced a recall global involving more than 590 thousand vehicles of the Toyota and Lexus in different markets. The problem is in 12.3-inch digital instrument clusterwhich can go off when starting or while driving, compromising the display of essential information about the car’s operation.

The defect also affects Brazilian owners, but fortunately on a much smaller scale. In the Brazilian market, the recall includes:

If the equipment goes out like a moving car, there is a risk of accidents and consequent physical damage. In the United States, the recall covers 10 Toyota models and three Lexus modelstotaling 590 thousand units.

Among the vehicles listed are Toyota Crown, Camry, 4Runner, Highlander, Tacoma, Grand Highlander, Venza, Crown Signia, RAV4 e GR Corollain addition to Lexus LS, RX e TX.

In Brazil, service for RAV4 PHEV customers has already started. To correct the problem, Toyota determined software reprogramming or panel replacement of instruments in the case of the RAV4 PHEV. As for the GR Corolla, the solution is just updating the system, available at dealerships from October 1st. All repairs are free.

The Toyota GR Corolla is a sporty midsize hatch with prices between R$416,990 and R$461,990. The model has a 1.6 turbo engine with 306 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission.

The RAV4 is available in Brazil in two configurations and prices start at R$349,290. The cheapest RAV4 SX was not affected by the recall. Models from Lexus, the group’s premium brand, are also not part of the list in the Brazilian market.
